Mark Anderson Discussion started by Mark Anderson 2 years ago
Following one of the Dad Discussion Groups, I had an idea of trying to continue one on the discussions here online. We can continue some of the discussions, involve people who didn't make it in person, and reference some of the suggestions and opinions later.

Here goes! So lat one of the Discussion Groups, we talked about Extracurricular activities. One interesting discussion point that wasn't flushed out was whether or not to compel a child to study music if they're not interested.
I think the argument "for" is that a child may not appreciate music until they reach a level of competence and that just doesn't happen until they get through the initial stages. The argument "against" came from an actual musician who saw children with no real natural predilection to music just absolutely hating lessons and being driven away.

Any thoughts or clarifications here?
