The Business Ethics Forum (BEF) is a group of peer executives working to develop and implement philosophically sound and actionable frameworks for ethical and effective business management. The timeless principle of the dignity of the human person and the values of truth, freedom, justice and charity provide the foundation of the BEF’s discussion outlines, case studies, management tools and consulting services. It is essential that within a business the legitimate pursuit of profit should be in harmony with respect for the dignity of the people involved in or affected by the business including employees, owners, customers, suppliers and society.
Rejecting the notion that “ethics” is situation-based or simply means avoiding doing something you don’t want on the front page of the newspaper, the BEF applies the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, published by the Vatican in 2005, to contemporary business issues.
While based on documents published by the Vatican, the BEF is open to executives from all frames of reference. The management principles advocated by the BEF are universally applicable and require no profession of religious conviction.
BEF typically meets twice a quarter: once for luncheon to discuss a practical case, and once for a reception for a social gathering a business ethics related presentation.
