Catherine Ruth Pakaluk is an Associate Professor of Social Research and Economic Thought in the Busch School of Business at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She earned her doctorate in economics at Harvard University and taught at Ave Maria University before coming to Catholic University. Her primary areas of research include the economics of education and religion, family studies and demography, Catholic social thought and political economy. She is a widely admired writer and sought after speaker on matters of culture, gender, social science, the vocation of women, and the work of Edith Stein. The mother of eight children, she is the author of several books, most recently Hannah’s Children: The Women Quietly Defying the Birth Dearth, a study of the mothers of large families.
