At the Westcott Study Center on Saturday, April 6th Teresa Lanza di Scalea, M.D., Ph.D., a board-certified Psychiatrist who lives in Austin, spoke to roughly 60 fathers on the importance of early childhood upbringing.
According to Dr. Lanza, the role of fathers is one of essential anthropological value and noble leadership. The talk presented theory and evidence for the positive impact on children’s physical and mental health of their fathers’ involvement in their lives, as well as on their wives’ flourishing and on family unity as a whole.
Finally, Dr. Lanza presented the “Four S’s: Safe, Seen, Soothed and Secure” as a handy way to remember the father’s key role in upbringing. Many great questions followed the talk, and much discussion continued afterward. Dr. Lanza’s was truly an engaging presentation!
